The aim of the study is to analyze the provision of food security by federal laws, legal acts of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as decisions of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.The objectives of the study are to identify problematic issues that affect the quality and efficiency of the management process in the field of food security. The article uses research methods such as comparative analysis and factor analysis. The results of the article are based on the conclusions of the authors that the Food Security Doctrine should be based on the country's food independence in terms of basic agricultural products. This level has already been reached for grain. In dairy farming and crop production, such indicators will also be achieved using the strategy of innovative development of the agro-industrial complex. Therefore, effective measures are now needed to reduce import dependence and support domestic producers who produce quality products. The scientific novelty of the research topic is related to the analysis of the content of the new Doctrine of Food Security of the Russian Federation dated January 21, 2020.
