Abstract. Potato growing is one of the promising branches of agriculture. The issue of introducing new varieties into production is relevant at any time, especially in the context of import substitution. To obtain high yields and high-quality products, it is necessary to know how to grow a crop, what conditions for growth are most favorable for it. The article studies the influence of such techniques as the planting scheme and the size of the planting tuber on the development and formation of the potato crop and analyzes the results obtained. As a result of the research conducted on the basis of the educational and experimental farm of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution in USAU in 2021, it was found that the yield of Alaska potato tubers varied from 28.99 t/ha to 47.95 t/ha, depending on the planting density used and the weight of the planting tuber. With a planting density of 45 thousand / ha, there was a delay in the onset of development phases for 5-7 days. 30-50. The use of tubers weighing more than 80 g during planting gave an increase of 29-57% on variants with a planting density of 45 and 55 thousand / ha in comparison with tubers of 50-80 g.
